First Baptist Church Saginaw is seeking a qualified and dedicated individual to serve as our Minister of Music.

Position Overview:
The Minister of Music will play a crucial role in leading our congregation in worship through comprehensive planning, coordination, and implementation of the Music Ministry. This includes special programs, worship services, and musical events. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with other staff members, bringing a strong sense of calling and expertise in the field.

Qualifications:

• Experienced call of God to serve as a minister of the gospel.
• Completed undergraduate studies, preferably with a Master's level education from a Baptist seminary or equivalent.
• Vocational and/or bi-vocational experience in a Baptist Church setting.

Special Knowledge & Skills:

• Thorough knowledge of Biblical teaching.
• Updated understanding of music trends in a church context.
• Basic management principles and organizational skills.
• Skill in leading congregational worship.
• Proficiency in audio/visual equipment used in worship.
• Leadership skills for music groups such as choirs, ensembles, and orchestras.
• Adaptability to changing requirements and decision-making capability.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective ministry relationships across all ages

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with the Music Ministry Team to establish goals, organizational structure, and schedules.
• Coordinate music ministry with the church calendar and manage schedules.
• Direct congregational singing and lead musical praise in various services.
• Direct adult and youth choirs.
• Enlist and enhance the music and tech ministries.
• Prepare and manage the music ministry budget.
• Provide ministerial assistance at funerals and weddings.
• Engage with the local community and represent the church as needed.
• Participate actively in the church’s mission and ministry.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Enlist, train, and supervise volunteer and paid leaders in the music ministry.
• Supervise the maintenance of the music library and equipment.
• Oversee the Audio/Visual Ministry Team.
