Dean and Karr La Dickens
Dean and Karr La served as missionaries for 28 years, about half of that time in the Philippines and the other half as Area Directors working with multiple field missionary teams scattered across the world. Both are graduates of Ouachita Baptist University. With a masters and doctorate from Southwestern, Dean has taught preaching both at Southwestern and in Asia and also pastored in the Dallas area. For over 35 years, he has also engaged in teaching basic preaching workshops to those generally in rural and
often tribal areas where they have no materials other than a Bible and a call from God. From the Amazon rainforests of South America to the Thai/Myanmar refugee camps, he uses their own cultural settings and backgrounds to train men and women to culturally equip them in the very thing God has called them to do: Preach. Some of these workshops run in the hundreds while others may have only 25-50. Dean was recognized in 2020 as Texas Baptist’s Intentional Minister of the Year. Married 52 years, he and Karr La have three grown children and three grandchildren.
For the record, he feels FBC is a wonderful and blessed congregation positioned right in the middle of Saginaw’s exploding community and he feels equally blessed to be a small part of helping our congregation make life-changing differences in this community while they are also seeking their next pastor.

A message from David: My desire is to serve God by equipping others to be on mission with Him. Each ministry should have God as the central focus. Each ministry should be open to everyone so that they may fulfill their calling. God has blessed this ministry with people of many talents. They serve God in many different ways. And we are a stronger ministry because of the gifts of the membership of this church. My hope is that everyone can find a place to serve so that they may grow closer to God

A message from Charlie: I love people and I love to see people succeed in worship. It is so exciting to see our music ministry involve folks from pre-school age all the way to our sr. adults. Music is a powerful tool and I believe God is honored when we use it responsibly.
